On December 17th MDP hosted its very first Moxie Choreographic Showcase. We had nine choreographers. They were able to choose their cast of dancers, and had three forty five minute rehearsals to set their work on their cast. We as coordinators as well as all of the dancers and choreographers put a lot of time and effort to make this event happen! We are so proud of the professionalism and talent all of MDP brought to this event. The purpose of this event was not only to showcase the talent of our dancers but to also donate a portion of the proceeds to Special Stars. This organization is dedicated to those who may have developmental or intellectual disabilities. Special Stars also performed in the show as our finale act! This group is remarkable in all that it does for young children and their families we recommend reading more about them! (https://www.specialstarsdance.org/home)
We were able to donate $400 directly to Special Stars and they plan to utilize some of the money to buy sensory friendly costumes for upcoming performances. We were so proud of our friends for giving a humbling performance at the showcase and were happy to provide this donation.
We had marketing help from Anne C. who designed our flyer, and Livy W. who created a promo video and took photos at the event for us! Everyone pulled together to spread the word and utilized their talents to bring good to a local organization. Thank you to Sunshine Dance Project for providing us rehearsal space, DanceWest Ballet for providing a performance venue, and everyone who attended, supported, marketed, and volunteered; it truly takes a village!
